Home / Certifications

Certification, by model — not by product family.

A certificate that names one model does not automatically cover another model in the same family, and plating changes can void a listing. This page explains which standard applies to what, and how to check the document you are handed.

Our position

What we put on paper.

We do not display certification marks on this website. Instead, for the model you are quoting we send the certificate itself, with the model number visible, and we state plainly when a model is not yet certified.

If your customer needs cUPC, say so in the first email. We check the model against the document we actually hold before quoting, so the price you receive already includes the right product — not the cheapest one that happens to be nearby.

Routes

Which standard applies to which product.

These are the routes that matter commercially. The certificate, not this table, is the authoritative document — always check the model number printed on it.

ProductUnited States / CanadaEuropean Union / UK
Handshowers and shower setscUPC to ASME A112.18.1 / CSA B125.1, with NSF/ANSI 61 and 372 for materials in contact with drinking waterEN 1112 (shower outlets); EN 817 or EN 1111 where a valve or thermostatic element is part of the set
Shower hosesASME A112.18.6 / CSA B125.6EN 1113
Thermostatic and pressure-balance valvesASSE 1016 / ASME A112.1016EN 1111 (thermostatic); EN 817 (mechanical mixing)
Surface finishSalt-spray performance stated per finish on the technical sheetSame — plus member-state requirements where they exist

EU member-state material approvals sit on top of the EN standards, not instead of them: WRAS in the United Kingdom, KTW in Germany, ACS in France, KIWA in the Netherlands. There is no single “EU bathroom certificate” — a supplier claiming one is either simplifying or guessing.

Flow rate

The number customs and code inspectors check.

MarketMaximum flow rate
United States — federal2.5 gpm at 80 psi
United States — WaterSense label2.0 gpm
California (Title 20)1.8 gpm
European UnionSet per member state and per product class; stated on the technical sheet for the model quoted

A 2.5 gpm head sold into California is a compliance problem for the importer, not the factory. We ask for the destination state before quoting for that reason.

How to check a document

Four checks that take two minutes.

01

Who issued it

cUPC listings come from IAPMO. An in-house “certificate of conformity” printed by the factory is not a listing, however official the layout looks.

02

Which model it names

Find the model column. If your model is not there, the document does not cover it — even if the product photo looks identical.

03

Whether the finish is covered

Plating and finish changes can affect a listing. Matte black and chrome are not always certified under the same file.

04

Whether it is current

Look for an expiry or a listing date. A superseded standard number means the document is historical, not evidence.

Current status

Document status per product line.

Updated as documents are received from the manufacturer. Ask for your model — we send the actual certificate PDF.

Ask for the file

Tell us the model and the market. We send the document that matches.

If a model has no certificate yet, we will say so before you commit to anything.
